Proverbs 18:10 part 2

Yesterday we looked at the name of the Lord. Today, we will look at the name of the Lord is a strong tower.

This has two meanings.

1) It is a safe place, where we are protected from the enemy. The Lord surrounds His people. “As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people both now and forevermore. ” (Psalm 125:2). The name of the Lord is a strong tower. He is stronger than anything, stronger than sickness, stronger than people stronger than trouble, stronger than the enemy. Nothing can touch us without God’s permission.

2) A strong tower is also tall. The word also means a watch tower. That is a place where soldiers look out and see what is happening all around. For us as Christians, the believing in the name of the Lord helps us to SEE clearly. When we look just at the problems, the problems seem so big. When we look at how great the Lord is, we see the problems as they really are. They seem big to us, but they are so small compared to the Lord God Almighty.

He is “My comfort, my shelter, tower of refuge and strength.”
