Hebrews 4:15.
“We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses.”
The Christmas story reveals that God the Son, while remaining fully God, took to Himself a true human nature. That human nature was real and He experienced all the weaknesses and frailty of human nature: tiredness, hunger, thirst, pain, sorrow, rejection. He was tempted also in every way yet without sin.
We don’t have a far off Saviour, we have one who knows. He sympathises.
Are you weak? He knows; go to Him in prayer.
Are you alone? He knows; He is with you.
Are you in pain? He knows; tell Him.
Are you weeping? So did He; give Him your tears.
Are you tempted? So was He; run to Him for strength.
The old carol says, “tears and smiles like us He knew.” He knows. He shares our sorrows and our joys. However you are feeling today, you can go with confidence in prayer and thanksgiving to your sympathetic and sufficient Saviour. He knows.
Every blessing this Christmas.
