During these days, there are so many people who have an opinion. There are opinions about Covid-19, opinions about health, opinions about the government, opinions about vaccines and, still, opinions about Brexit!
We even have people among our friends and family who will tell us that we should or shouldn’t do certain things. Often we can have so much conflicting advice that we don’t know where to turn or what to do. As this verse says: “A man of many companions may come to ruin.”
We don’t need to be overcome with advice, we need to know who is with us, and that He will never fail us. The rest of the verse says: “but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
YouTube advisers just want you to click their video, doctors often want just to get through their list of patients, governments want to be re-elected, even friends and family can sometimes be more interested in what they can get from you.
But “there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” There is someone who is always with you, whose advice (or commands) in His word are always right, whose love never fails, who will never leave you nor forsake you.
His name is Jesus. He gave Himself for you. He is faithful and you can trust Him.
Of course God does use people to help and advise us, but they are not the final answer – He is. You are safe in His care.
