In our devotional on Monday we saw how the Lord is going to transform us in eternity. 1 Corinthians 15:49: “Just as we have born the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.”
How does that help us today? Is it just “theology”? Not according to God’s word. Today’s verse starts with “Therefore”. God is saying that because your eternal future is so certain you can life your life now in this way:
You can “be steadfast.” You can keep going. You can trust Him in trouble. You don’t need to fear because you know that your future is certain.
You can be “immovable.” You don’t need to move away from your faith in Christ because He is the One who will protect you now and transform you on that day. No-one else can, no religion or ideas or medicine or anything else is able to give you an eternal future.
You can “always be abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labour is not in vain.” It is a struggle now, but all that you do for the Lord is not pointless. Eternity is coming, You will have rest from your labours. You will be transformed.
And you will look back on your life here and say, “it was worth it.” All the trials, all the temptation, all the battles, all the work for the Lord, it is worth it.
