Many of us are experiencing great trouble and attacks on our health and finance. Some of us are also experiencing real spiritual attack as well. Some of us have had really bad attacks and we have struggled a lot.
Although the attacks have been powerful, today’s verse contains a great promise: “No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed.”
Notice what it doesn’t say: it doesn’t say that no weapon will be formed against you. God never promises us freedom from attack or trouble, that opposite.
But what it does say is this: “No weapon that is fashion against you will succeed.” Nothing that the enemy attacks you with, no troubles or suffering, will ultimately, finally succeed. It can’t defeat you, it can’t take out of God’s hands.
Trouble is real, trouble is painful, but trouble doesn’t win.
There is another example in Isaiah 43:2: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”
Notice it doesn’t say that it won’t be wet or hot. It does say you won’t be overwhelmed or consumed.
Troubles are painful, but they don’t have the final say; they can’t win. They can’t defeat you because the Lord, who is your shepherd and who is mighty to save, walks with you through the valley.
Yesterday we saw that we are secure in God’s love. Today’s verse shows us that we are secure in His protection.
“I’ll fear no evil, for You are with me strong to deliver, mighty to save.”
